How To Choose Lip Colors
I find that makeup colors are a mystery to a lot of women, especially lip color.
So, where do you start when choosing lip colors? With your skin tone color and the size of your lips.
Yes, the size of your lips really does matter.
Thin lips should avoid dark lip colors, they will only make your lips look thinner. You need to use lighter shades to give your lips a fuller look.
If you have fuller lips you can wear darker shades as long as they complement your skin tone. But, stay clear of bright lip colors they will only accentuate your full lips.
Makeup tip:
If you want to look younger choose warmer, more colorful lip colors. They will bring out the warm tones in your skin and brighten the face.
Avoid dark lip colors which will age you fast.
Here's a general list of lip colors that work with each skin tone color. Use it as a starting point to choosing your lip colors.
Fair skin tones:
Lips colors are true pinks, light peach, nudes in slight apricot shades, honey, beige, cherry red and dark berry lip colors.
Stay away from lip colors that are to brown, they will wash you out.
Medium skin tones:
Lip colors are medium pinks, rose shades, nudes that have a peach tone, light mocha, medium apricots, carmel and reddish burgundy lip colors.
Olive skin tones:
Lip colors are brown reds, strong reds, deep rose, bronze, raisin, berry, mahogany, toffee, dark apricots, fire-engine red.
Lip colors with some brown in them look good on olive-toned skin.
Avoid candy pinks and lip colors with white or silver in them - they make olive skin look sallow.
